Wall Street today: US stocks mixed as investors await Fed minutes

US stocks were mixed on Monday, as investors awaited quarterly results from Nvidia and the Federal Reserve’s policy meeting minutes due on Wednesday.

At the opening bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 13.83 points, or 0.03%, to 39,989.76. The S&P 500 was higher by 2.08 points, or 0.04%, at 5,305.35, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 16.06 points, or 0.10%, to 16,702.02. 

Bullion

Gold prices hit a record high on Monday as the shock death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash boosted support for the precious metal seen as a safe haven investment.

Silver jumped to the highest level in more than 11 years.
